Memphis Underground è un album del 1969 del flautista jazz Herbie Mann, che fonde i generi jazz e rhythm and blues (R&B). Mentre Mann e gli altri principali solisti (Roy Ayers, Larry Coryell e Sonny Sharrock) erano musicisti jazz di spicco, l’album è stato registrato nell’American Sound Studio di Chips Moman a Memphis, uno studio utilizzato da molti noti artisti R&B e pop. La sezione ritmica era la house band degli American Studios. La registrazione è stata progettata e prodotta da Tom Dowd.
