Fondata nel 1975 da James K. Lloyd (tastiere), Cedric Napoleon (basso) e Curtis Harmon (batteria), si esibirono in tutta Filadelfia come “Classic Touch”, “A Touch of Class” e “Galaxy”. Il gruppo cambiò il loro nome in “Pieces Of A Dream” nel 1979, in riferimento a “Pieces of Dreams”, una melodia di Stanley Turrentine che il gruppo eseguì. Sono stati scoperti da Grover Washington, Jr. mentre si esibivano come house band nello show televisivo “City Lights”. Grover ha continuato a produrre i loro primi tre album Pieces of a Dream, We Are One e Imagine This. Poco dopo aver completato Joyride, il loro ultimo sforzo per la Elektra, si sono trasferiti in EMI / Blue Note e hanno continuato a registrare altri sette album. Durante questo periodo, il gruppo si separò amichevolmente con l’amico di lunga data Cedric Napoleon. Firmato con la Heads Up International nel 2001 e finora ha pubblicato quattro album:Acquainted with the Night, Love’s Silhouette, No Assembly Required e Pillow Talk.La band è attualmente composta da Lloyd, Harmon, Eddie Baccus Jr. (sassofono), Todd Parsnow (chitarra) e Tracy Hamlin (voce).Erano (e sono tuttora) gestiti rispettivamente dal padre e dallo zio del batterista, Danny e Bill Harmon.
